A practical AI build school for healthcare

Learn by building something useful.

Bring a real problem from your work or an idea you want to explore. Learn a repeatable approach to creating, testing and refining AI-powered tools, even if you have never written code.

For yourself

Create tools that simplify everyday tasks and solve personal problems.

For your team

Explore clinic workflows, onboarding, reporting or practice resources.

For a future product

Build a starting point you could validate and develop further.

One practical journey. Two ways to build.

  1. 01Find a real need
  2. 02Build and test
  3. 03Use it or grow it

Hands-on learningPractical healthcare scenariosNo coding experience required

01 / Who it is for

Build for your world.

You don't need to be a developer or plan to launch a startup. Choose a real problem from your own work, your practice or an idea you want to explore.

01

Clinicians

Build patient education resources, exercise tools or prototypes for everyday clinical workflows.

02

Practice owners

Explore reporting dashboards, administrative improvements or new digital tools.

03

Practice managers

Create onboarding workflows, internal guidance, training or task-management tools.

04

Administrators

Prototype enquiry trackers, referral workflows, follow-up tools or routine processes.

Start with a real problem, not a tool.

Your project could be as practical as a small internal tool or as ambitious as the first version of a new product.

  • Clinic dashboard

    Appointment and capacity trends

  • Staff induction

    Onboarding and task checklists

  • Referral tracker

    Enquiries and follow-ups

  • Practice SOP hub

    Procedures and team training

  • Running planner

    Education and training plans

  • Cancellation tracker

    Non-clinical follow-up workflows

Workshop safetyUse synthetic data only. Do not enter patient information into workshop projects.

02 / How you build

Two streams. One practical outcome.

Both streams begin with understanding the problem and scoping the solution. Pick the building approach that suits you: visual prototyping or AI-guided coding.

Start together

Define your user, the problem, the essential workflow and the smallest useful prototype.

Lovable logo

Stream A / Visual builder

Lovable

Build visually. Learn quickly.

Describe your idea in plain English, explore a live preview and ask AI to improve screens and features.

Why choose it

  • Less technical setup
  • Immediate visual feedback
  • Useful for simple tools and web apps
  • Guided, beginner-friendly experience

Example build: Try an onboarding portal or an internal clinic workflow.

Codex logoClaude logo

Stream B / AI coding agent

Codex / Claude Code

Build with an AI coding agent.

Guide AI to create and edit project files, implement features, troubleshoot and iterate.

Why choose it

  • More control over code and files
  • Room for custom logic or integrations
  • Flexible ways to extend an app
  • More technical troubleshooting may be needed

Example build: Try a practice dashboard or custom workflow prototype.

Same destination

A working prototype, implementation steps and a clearer way forward — not a promise of production-ready clinical software.

Codex is the main coding-agent demonstration; Claude Code is an alternative. Bring a laptop and a suitable AI account. Usage credits or paid subscriptions are not included.

03 / Build responsibly

Make it useful. Make it safe.

Building a prototype is an important first step. Before a healthcare tool is used with real people or information, it must be checked for privacy, security, reliability and applicable obligations.

1Privacy + health information

Understand the APPs, consent, access, disclosure, retention and the risks of sending information to third-party AI tools.

2Professional responsibilities

Think about Ahpra duties, safe communication, advertising of health services and avoiding unsupported clinical claims.

3TGA + medical software

Learn why the intended purpose of a tool matters and when software may be regulated as a medical device.

4Security + AI reliability

Consider permissions, data protection, testing, human oversight and the limitations of AI-generated code.

Privacy by design

Build trust from the first version.

A practical checklist to use while planning and testing a prototype:

  1. 01What information is really needed?
  2. 02Who should be able to access it?
  3. 03How will users check AI-generated outputs?
  4. 04What review is needed before real-world use?

Educational overview only: this course does not provide legal advice, regulatory approval or security certification.

04 / Your practical session

Six hours focused on building.

The program is designed around active making, testing and iteration. The indicative session plan below prioritises hands-on work over lectures or startup theory.

After class, you choose the direction.

Use it yourself or in your practice

Pilot safely, refine the workflow and learn what is useful.

Develop it for others

Validate demand, explore what comes next and consider a future product.

05 / What you take away

Leave with something you built.

A real starting point and a practical next-step plan — for your own use, your healthcare workplace or an idea you may wish to develop further.

01

Working prototype

A scoped, testable app or tool created using your chosen building stream.

02

Implementation steps

A clear plan for testing, refining and introducing the solution where appropriate.

03

Privacy + risk checklist

Initial questions about data protection, professional obligations and safe use.

04

Practical next steps

A 30-day direction for continued building, an internal pilot or optional commercial validation.

Questions

Good to know.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Stream A uses a visual builder and suits first-timers. Stream B suits people comfortable with AI tools who want more control over code and files.

What should I bring?

A real problem from your work or an idea you want to explore, a laptop, and a suitable AI account. Usage credits or paid subscriptions are not included.

Can I use real patient data?

No. Workshop projects use synthetic data only — do not enter patient information into workshop projects.

Will I leave with a finished product?

You will leave with a working prototype, implementation steps and a clearer way forward — not a promise of production-ready clinical software.

Is this a startup course?

No. The six hours prioritise hands-on building over lectures or startup theory. After class, you choose the direction: use it yourself, pilot it in your practice, or validate it as a future product.

Is the compliance content legal advice?

No. It is an educational overview only: the course does not provide legal advice, regulatory approval or security certification.
